In an official note dated June 18, the Cap-Haïtien Municipal Commission denounced the behavior deemed "indecent" by several students in uniform, mainly baccalaureate candidates, whose inappropriate gestures recently circulated on social media.
Cap-Haïtien, June 19, 2025 – In these videos that have gone viral, jubilant young people are seen celebrating the end of exams with scenes of effusion marked by provocative dancing, obscene gestures, and immoral behavior, sometimes even within the confines of their schools.
Faced with this situation, the City Hall says it has observed a "worrying increase" in this disrespectful behavior, which, it believes, damages the city's image and tarnishes the seriousness of the local education system.
"While academic success deserves to be celebrated, it cannot justify such excesses on public roads. The celebration must be held with dignity and respect for social norms," the memo states.
The Commission calls on public and private school administrators to fully assume their educational role by establishing more rigorous supervision. It also urges the Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of National Education to act swiftly to prevent these repeated incidents.
The City Council is requesting the involvement of judicial and police authorities, particularly the Government Commissioner, to ensure that measures are taken to deter and punish disruptive behavior in public spaces.
