In the shadow of the hits, discover PM Music

Have you ever wondered who's behind Niko's "Bòkò 2.0," Durkheim's "STK," or 5Lan feat. Jim Rama's "Pa ni domi"? It's Pierre-Michel Sainthiar, aka PM Music. Discreet but active, this young producer evolves between konpa, afro house, and Creole rap, with a strong desire. That of participating in the structuring of a Haitian music sector that, in his eyes, is still too informal.

Born in Port-au-Prince on September 7, 2002, the man who produces under the name PM Music defines himself first and foremost as "a music lover." A musician and producer, he recently graduated in musicology from Toulouse Jean-Jaurès University and approaches creation with rigor and patience. "Music is my gift, a gift from God, if I can put it that way," he confided to Ticket Magazine.

A former student of Collège Le Normalien, he grew up in an environment steeped in art and spirituality. "My father founded a Catholic choir. Their rehearsal space was at home. My brother was also a musician. I think that got me even more into it." When asked about his beginnings, the 22-year-old recalls his first official production: "Karma," a track by Freezy Asad. Since then, projects have steadily followed.

He has notably signed or co-signed tracks such as "Voye Nudes yo" by Troubleboy, "Zonbi" by D-Singer, "Banm Tout" by Masterbrain feat. Mikaben, and two tracks for 5Lan, including "Pa ni domi" featuring Jim Rama. Among his most recent collaborations, the one with Niko on "Bòkò 2.0" marked a turning point. He reflects on the latter, mentioning the involvement of DJ 5Etwal, who facilitated the contact. "I had just finished two productions for 5Lan's album when he informed me that Niko was looking for a producer. He gave him my contact information," he explains.

In addition to the projects mentioned above, PM Music has an extensive portfolio. He worked on "Ne t’en vas pas" by Troubleboy and Saskya, "M anvi Kole" by Niko (co-production), "Ti Wòb Sa" by MGCK ft. Tadly, as well as the track "Shine" by Kim ft. Guy2Bezbar. This latest collaboration represents for him an opening to the French music industry.

Beyond production, PM Music fosters a broader reflection on the Haitian musical ecosystem. "Haiti possesses invaluable cultural wealth and a dynamic diaspora. But in my opinion, it does not yet have a true music industry, with solid economic mechanisms, a well-defined legal framework, and sustainable monetization channels," he says.

Despite his young age, Pierre-Michel hopes to make a significant contribution to the development of HMI. Currently, the producer is preparing the release of an Afro house remix of Kabysh's track "Nago," scheduled for June 6th. He also announced the release of his own EP, scheduled for the coming months.
