PSG won the Champions League for the first time in its history by crushing Inter Milan in the final (5-0) on Saturday in Munich.

The Parisian club thus became the second French team to lift Europe's most prestigious cup, 32 years after OM's triumph in 1993. PSG had already won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1996, a competition no longer on the calendar.

Paris, which has won an unprecedented quadruple in France (Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophée des Champions), completely dominated the match, putting on a veritable display against Inter Milan, who were overwhelmed by the opponent's technique and teamwork.

PSG made the difference very early on thanks to goals from Achraf Hakimi (12th minute) and Désiré Doué (20th minute), who was preferred to Bradley Barcola at kickoff.

The young French international striker (19 years old), who provided the assist for the opening goal, dazzled the match with his talent, scoring a third goal in the second half (63rd minute), followed by a fourth from Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (73rd minute) and a fifth from youngster Senny Mayulu (86th minute).

A testament to Paris's achievement, this was the largest margin of victory in a Champions League final.

For Inter Milan, also the unfortunate finalists in 2023 (lost to Manchester City), the disappointment was immense, as the Italian team, second in Serie A behind Napoli after leading the league for a long time, finished the season without a trophy. The Nerazzurri failed in their quest for a fourth Champions League title after winning them in 1964, 1965, and 2010.

This success crowned PSG's incredible growth since its acquisition in 2011 by Qatar via the Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) fund. The new owners proclaimed upon their arrival their desire to win the Champions League, but it ultimately took 14 years to achieve this, notably after their first defeat in the final in 2020 against Bayern Munich (1-0).

The Parisian management initially focused on a star-driven strategy, which culminated in the recruitment of Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and Lionel Messi, before changing direction with the arrival of Luis Enrique as coach and Kylian Mbappé's departure to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.

The Parisian victory owes much to the Spanish coach, now the strongman in the sports sector, who has emphasized teamwork. The former Real Madrid and FC Barcelona player is registering his name on the Champions League list for the second time as a coach, ten years after the success he achieved at the helm of Barça (2015).
